What does the clinical evidence actually show for NMN?

Cohort

25 postmenopausal, prediabetic women with overweight/obesity

Dose

250 mg/day, 10 weeks

Finding

~25% improvement in skeletal-muscle insulin sensitivity; no change in body composition, blood pressure, or lipids.

Cohort

42 healthy men aged 65+

Dose

250 mg/day, 6 & 12 weeks

Finding

Increased blood NAD+; significant improvement in gait speed and chair-stand performance. Grip strength showed only a trend.

Cohort

80 healthy middle-aged adults (40–65)

Dose

300/600/900 mg/day, 60 days

Finding

Significant NAD+ increase at all doses; improved 6-minute walk. Clinical efficiency peaked at 600 mg (minimal added benefit at 900 mg). No safety issues.

Cohort

Healthy adults

Dose

250 mg/day, 12 weeks

Finding

Sustained increase in blood NAD+; no adverse events reported.

Cohort

48 amateur runners

Dose

300/600/1200 mg/day, 6 weeks (+training)

Finding

Dose-dependent improvement in aerobic capacity (ventilatory threshold).

Cohort

108 adults aged 65+

Dose

250 mg/day (afternoon), 12 weeks

Finding

Afternoon intake improved daytime drowsiness and lower-limb function. Single study — not conclusive.

Cohort

Middle-aged adults with overweight/obesity

Dose

1000 mg 1–2×/day, 28 days

Finding

Large NAD+ increase; short-term safety confirmed up to 2000 mg/day.

Finding

NMN effects on glucose/lipid markers are limited/uncertain — metabolic evidence remains weak relative to anti-aging marketing.

View study · DOI 10.1007/s11892-024-01557-z

Finding

Of 15 global NMN products: measured content ranged 0–104.5% of label; 3 products contained no detectable NMN; only 7 were within ±10% of label.
