What are the criteria for choosing a good Glutathione product?

1

Actual GSH content disclosed Effective dose /30

"Yeast extract 500 mg" does not tell you how much GSH it contains. Comparing against the studied dose (250–500 mg) requires the GSH figure itself.

How to check — Find the GSH figure in the ingredient list and read it separately from total extract weight.

2

Third-party test results Purity & impurity testing /25

Consumers cannot otherwise detect a gap between labelled and actual GSH. Third-party testing is the only verification route.

How to check — Look for lot-level COAs covering heavy metals and microbiological testing.
3

Absorption design Manufacturing & safety certification /20

Oral glutathione can be degraded during digestion; a liposomal formulation showed improved absorption (Sinha 2018).

How to check — Check for liposomal, sublingual, or enteric-coated formulation claims.

4

Named fermentation-derived brand Raw-material grade /15

Setria® is the raw material used in blood-GSH studies and holds US GRAS status. Products without a named source cannot be verified.

How to check — Check whether a supplier brand such as Setria® or OPITAC™ is named.

5

Reduced form (GSH) stated Information transparency /10

Human studies used reduced glutathione (GSH). Neither the oxidised form (GSSG) nor a bare "contains glutathione" label tells you which form is inside.

How to check — Look for "reduced" or "L-Glutathione (reduced)" on the label.
